Who May Borrow the Media Resources?

Any non-profit organization such as a school, college, university, or library in the Commonwealth of Virginia may become a Statewide Partner of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and borrow educational resources without charge. A limited number of resources are available, free of charge, to nonmembers and nonprofit groups. The phrase “available to nonmembers” appears at the beginning of the descriptions of these materials; see alphabetical listing.

Age-Level Designations

Each film or videotape entry contains a suggested audience age level. Please note that these age levels are only provided as general guidelines. The actual suitability of a film or videotape can be determined only by a teacher or programmer who is familiar with the maturity of the audience.

Formats

Programs in the alphabetical listing are available in DVD and 1/2" VHS videotape formats. Some programs are offered in more than one format. Before ordering, please check individual program entry to determine which formats are available.

Free Admission Required

No fees may be charged for admission to educational showings; educational resources are to be used for educational, noncommercial purposes only.

Publicity and Sponsor Credit

In the development of any printed matter and publicity relating to an educational showing, the following credit must be given: This program has been organized and funded by the Office of Statewide Partnerships of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

Please send copies of all publicity to our office.

Charges

No fees are charged for educational loans. The borrower, however, must pay the cost of return postage to the Virginia Museum.

Loan Period

The standard loan period for Statewide Educational Media is one week. This period may be extended, depending on the availability of the requested materials. For borrowers outside the Metropolitan Richmond area, loan materials are mailed out by Parcel Post one week before the showing date. Borrowers in the Metro Richmond area may pick up loan materials on the business day before the showing date and may keep the materials for one week.

Return of Loan Materials

Media resources may be returned either by mail or in person. In some cases, the borrower may be asked to return a program by Overnight or Two-Day delivery. Materials returned in person must be taken to the Pauley Center (formerly Center for Education & Outreach). Main entrance, Monday-Friday, 8:45 am to 4:30 pm and Saturdays, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Directions: Enter the Museum Parking Lot off Grove Avenue. The Pauley Center will be on your left. Note parking situation during construction. PLEASE NOTE: Please do not return resource materials to the main VMFA building.
