General InformationCopyright Restrictions: Videotapes and DVDs are protected under the Copyright Law Title 17, U. S. Code (Section 501), effective January 1, 1978. They may not be duplicated, reproduced, televised, edited, or altered in any manner. All films and videotapes are restricted from use for commercial purposes; attendance fees may not be charged.Who May Borrow the Media Resources?Any non-profit organization such as a school, college, university, or library in the Commonwealth of Virginia may become a Statewide Partner of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and borrow educational resources without charge. A limited number of resources are available, free of charge, to nonmembers and nonprofit groups. The phrase “available to nonmembers” appears at the beginning of the descriptions of these materials; see alphabetical listing.Age-Level DesignationsEach film or videotape entry contains a suggested audience age level. Please note that these age levels are only provided as general guidelines. The actual suitability of a film or videotape can be determined only by a teacher or programmer who is familiar with the maturity of the audience.FormatsPrograms in the alphabetical listing are available in DVD and 1/2" VHS videotape formats. Some programs are offered in more than one format. Before ordering, please check individual program entry to determine which formats are available.Free Admission RequiredNo fees may be charged for admission to educational showings; educational resources are to be used for educational, noncommercial purposes only.Publicity and Sponsor CreditIn the development of any printed matter and publicity relating to an educational showing, the following credit must be given: This program has been organized and funded by the Office of Statewide Partnerships of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.Please send copies of all publicity to our office. ChargesNo fees are charged for educational loans. The borrower, however, must pay the cost of return postage to the Virginia Museum.Loan PeriodThe standard loan period for Statewide Educational Media is one week. This period may be extended, depending on the availability of the requested materials. For borrowers outside the Metropolitan Richmond area, loan materials are mailed out by Parcel Post one week before the showing date. Borrowers in the Metro Richmond area may pick up loan materials on the business day before the showing date and may keep the materials for one week.Return of Loan MaterialsMedia resources may be returned either by mail or in person. In some cases, the borrower may be asked to return a program by Overnight or Two-Day delivery. Materials returned in person must be taken to the Pauley Center (formerly Center for Education & Outreach). Main entrance, Monday-Friday, 8:45 am to 4:30 pm and Saturdays, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.Directions: Enter the Museum Parking Lot off Grove Avenue. The Pauley Center will be on your left. Note parking situation during construction. PLEASE NOTE: Please do not return resource materials to the main VMFA building. Liability and InsuranceEducational resources do not require postal insurance coverage; they are covered, while in transit, by VMFA’s insurance policy. The borrower will be held responsible for damage caused by improper handling, and faulty equipment. If negligent, the borrower must pay the cost of replacement. Borrower will not be held liable for minor damage that results from normal use. |
