Friends of African & African American Art

The Friends of African & African American Art (F4A) was founded in 1995 as a dynamic support group to enhance the museum’s expanding collections of African and African American art. The purpose of F4A is to grow VMFA's collections of African & African American art by engaging broader involvement in activities to promote increased awareness, attendance, and membership in support of the collection.

Members of F4A participate in events, attend lectures, learn about collecting, and interact with others who share their interest in African and African American art. The group serves as a forum for community outreach for education about the significance of maintaining an active collection at VMFA. Other great member benefits include discounts, advance tickets for classes, programs, 10% discount in the VMFA Shop and restaurants.
